Persian - Smoke Cats
History
You can read about the Persian breed here. This variety was created in the 1860s in the UK. Each hair on the smoke is pale at the base becoming darker to the tip.
The breed was always rare and almost died out in the 1940s, when the Second World War interrupted many cat breeding programs. A rescue program was hen set up, to keep the breed in existence and extend the colors.
