Sallander Rabbits
Sallander History
This breed has its roots in the Salland region of The Netherlands. A famous rabbit judge produced this breed by crossing the Thüringer and the Chinchilla. The breed was formally recognised in 1975. This breed was exported to the UK in the 1990s, but it isn’t really seen outside of The Netherlands or the UK.
The Sallander can weigh between 2.7 and 4kg. It is a muscular, fairly stocky rabbit. It has light grey markings which are darker on the flanks, cheeks, and belly.
Sallander Behaviour
This is an active, lively and skittish breed, who struggle to remain calm when being handled. They are not suitable as a family pet.
