'Hamster and tunnel' go together like 'dog and bone' or 'parrot and perch'. In the wild most species of hamster have underground tunnels, which enable them to escape hot weather and predators.
Your pet hamster will burrow into his bedding, but will also appreciate tunnels, play logs and chew tubes. These are especially important if you don't have thick bedding on the floor of the hamster cage for your pet to burrow into. Enabling nesting and burrowing is key to ensuring your hamster feels relaxed and at home in its enclosure.
Racing in and out of tubes will give your pet hours of entertainment
Chew tubes and play logs can be found in pet stores or online. You can get stiff tubes, bendy tubes, or wooden ones, but whichever you choose, always make sure that the material is safe for hamsters. Hamsters will chew anything, even things that aren’t good for them! Make sure your toy is hamster-friendly before purchasing.
