Expensive, not entirely thought through and impossible instructions...but it does the job well!
Russell, Cornwall,
Because of the continuation of avian flu in the U.K and because, and despite of the 3m Iglu Up run (which we already had) being stated as more than enough room for 3 birds, we felt that it really wasn't. So, we bit the bullet and paid £623 (I think) for a 3 x 2 x 2m walk in run to act as an extension to their 3x1m current roaming area whilst they the hens have to be contained. The website firstly has a 'order now for delivery tomorrow' feature which was a little annoying (given postage was over £20) as the items wasn't even dispatched until the next day. Not a massive biggie but just as well I didn't take the day off to stay in. Several boxes then arrived - 9 I think, and boxes were well marked with their contents. But Omlet - please start using biodegradable tape! It's 2022 and we flattened all our boxes to go on our veg beds under a new mulch but had to spend hours tearing off the miles, and miles of sticky tape. Then we saw the instructions. I can honestly say that you would have a greater chance of understand 'Quantum Physics for Advanced Beginners' than you would understanding these instructions. There has been no user experience testing done 'in the field' quite obviously because the instructions make certain assumptions but you have to work these out for yourself. Once we started to get the run built it went together quite well but because the upper mesh is larger than the lower, it doesn't meet DEFRA guidelines for keeping wild birds out. We knew this upon ordering so upon building, we covered the top part of the enclosure with fine net meshing. We also fitted welded mesh all the way under the floor area so as well as Omlets built in anti-dig barrier, we also had a full barrier thereafter for any determined vermin or foxes. But all this took us a whole weekend between 2 pretty fit and able adults. I must add a note though that I had questions regarding the run attachment from the current Iglu Go Up to the enclosure - I wanted to knopw if we could close the door from the old run still where it meets the enclosure (extra security at night, cleaning etc). The lady on the phone said we couldn't. But that's not true...because we did, And quite sucessfully. In fact, using our build method, I would say the run is more structurally sound than if we followed the instructions in their entirity and removed the whole end of the old run. Overall, it's not bad. Is it worth the money? The hens do love it, I must admit. They can flap about now, they have 3 x the original footprint and twice the height in the enclosure section. But given the cost of delivery (which really narks me when I've spent so much with Omlet in any one order), the poor instructions, the fact you have to build so much of it yourself and the actual outlay cost - I'd say the jury is out. It is secure though, and so much so, we did away with the electric fence around it after a week or so. But recycled materials, biodegradable packing tape, better instructions and no delivery charges over say £250 would make this a lot more paletable to me.

The hens are happy again!
Catriona, Fife,
I bought this recently after the hens flockdown polytunnel didn’t survive the storms. I only wish I had bought this first! The hens are happy and secure in it - I have covered it with a tarpaulin roof - and I can join them in the run for cuddles ???? Very happy with the quality and design.

Smaller mesh needed
Diane,
Overall a good product but the mesh really needs to be 19 mm x 19 mm or smaller to keep out weasels and rats.

Highly recommended
Christie,
I bought this before the onslaught of the storms in February to provide a covered space for my chickens to be in. It is spacious and sturdy, easy to use latches on the doors and looks great in my small garden.

Wonderful large walk in run
Keith, Cornwall,
Excellent quality run. Comprehensive construction instructions. Parts arrived well packed and marked. The difference this large run has made to my girls’ lives in this A ‘flu lock in is amazing. I have put wood chippings down and the girls are happily scratching around without getting muddy. This gives them plenty of space to run and I can place perches further apart for those that want to sit on their own. The ease of entry with the stable door and head height for me are fantastic - no more stooping and stretching to reach into my old run. I have bought conversion kits for my Omlet Go houses and have integrated my Go run which could also give me an isolation/nursery coop if needed. So glad I invested in this. I have very happy hens!

My chickens chose this system.
Pansy, South Carolina,
I have to start by saying I had two of those wooden coops/pens which I had attached together. It said it was good for 2-3 chickens, so two would be fine for my six. Well they looked cramped, so I ordered just a pen to attach more space, but they still looked cramped. I would never live that way. Suddenly, I found the Omlet Eglu Cube and sticker shock caused me to wait and reconsider. However, my chickens weren't happy, as a first time chicken owner even I could tell. I decided to buy the Eglu cube, my husband went ballistic, so I told him it was a gift. Due to the weather this year, we took some time to assemble it, although normally it could be assembled in a few days, but it was December. We finally finished the cube and one day, one of my chickens got out of the wooden coop. I left a side door open to get her back in. What happened next was hysterical. My chickens had noticed the Omlet under construction, and when they got the chance, one by one, they left their coop and marched themselves into the Omlet, where they had been ever since. They adjusted to it quickly and they certainly had enough room. I loved the automatic door and light. However, for them to live their lives in it, I wanted them to have more room and stretch their wings. We ordered the pet run and again, due to weather conditions, it took us several days. Our chickies were happy in their Omlet Cube though. We connected the run to the cube and the chickies went flying into the Pet run. Our hens were about 20 weeks old at this point and nary an egg was laid. Suddenly we got one egg, two eggs and so on. I know they were at right age, however their home is much more livable now. I decorated the tall corners with silk wisteria (I live in an HOA and were keeping them hidden). From our neighbors point of view, it's an arbor. The chickens are quiet unless they have laid an egg or when I come to hand feed them. The Eglu Cube and Pet Run is an expense, however it is low maintenance, easy to clean & retrieve eggs and gives me room to go in and socialize with my chickies. I didn't know about the Omlet when I bought my first coop, and feel I've wasted my money on them. However the Eglu Cube & Run is the only way to go in my opinion. I'm disabled and am able to keep my chickens happy and this system is as low maintenance as it can be. Eventually, after the whole system was erected, and my husband saw how wonderful this system was, I confessed to buying the Eglu Cube, and he said "whatever it cost, it's worth it" and I agree. Thank you.

Really hard to put together
Jason,
This thing was impossible to put together with the clips that come with it, it doesn’t help that the instructions offer little, if any, actual instruction. After an hour trying to attach 1 set of clips, I almost threw out the entire thing. Thankfully, I’m handy and went to Home Depot for pipe claps (the metal fasteners that screw together to get tighter). Once I had those, putting it together was a breeze!

Amazing!!
Daisy,
Over a month ago now we lost one of our beautiful call ducks to a fox, we had had our previous coop for 2 years with no problems but one particular day a fox managed to bite through the chicken wire and take our beautiful Phin. Absolutely devastated and angry we started our hunt for a replacement coop, we also have chickens and liked the idea of housing them all together. I had heard of Omlette before and upon lots of research only ever read good things about them. We decided to go for the 2x2x1 walk in run for the time being and then plan to extend it up and outwards one day when finances allow. It took myself and my husband a good couple of hours to construct the coop but was really quite simple to build, the instructions are really helpful and there are also YouTube videos if you find it easier to watch someone build it. We dug up the grass underneath and laid metal mesh panels, next we covered those with a thick weed membrane followed by a thick layer of poultry friendly wood chip. We reinforced the skirt of the coop with the large screw in pegs and attached a wooden log border around the coop for extra security but also to help keep the wood chips inside. We added the Omlette clear covers on top and some on the sides for additional cover from the elements. Along with two nest boxes bought from Amazon and the Omlette chicken perch our coop is finally complete. We are absolutely over the moon with the finished product and could not recommend highly enough. The mesh is thick and not able to be bent with bare hands. The lock is secure and safe. The covers are highly waterproof and also do a great job of creating shaded areas on sunnier days. Our ducks and chickens are really happy with their new space and have been getting along really well. If you currently have a chicken wire coop please please invest in one of these coops - your poultry is not safe from foxes with chicken wire which we found out the hard way. Worth every penny and I love that you can extend and add features in the future. Thank you so much Omlette for creating such a perfect coop and for giving us back confidence that our animals are safe :)

Brilliant product
Dee,
The walk in chicken run is excellent, purpose made and strong, I'm very happy leaving my girls during the day knowing they are safe (as we can't see them from the house). I have 6 hens (3 bantams and 3 chickens) and it gives them access to the grass area next to their coup. They love it and I'm thinking of spoiling them with some toys!

Godsend in flockdown
Lucy,
I bought a 2x3x2 walk in chicken run in May ‘21 I’m so pleased I did. It’s stood the test of time throughout the harsh Cumbrian winter and is a safe sanctuary for my girls to explore during flockdown, and for that reason alone, it’s been invaluable. My one complaint is that it isn’t rodent/small bird proof (and I don’t think it claims to be) but it has meant that I’ve had to essentially wrap it in fine netting in the interests of preventing spread of bird flu if nothing else. That’s not deterred me from thinking about extending my run when the budget allows!
