Verified Reviews for Eglu Cube® - Large Chicken Coops with Runs
Yes, all the way around!
My 9 year old is High Functioning Autistic, and has been hyper-fixated on eggs since he was just a toddler. I found out this past fall that he has wanted chickens his whole life, and never said anything because he never thought he would be able. I have never seen him as happy as I did when he received his chickens for Christmas.
Fast forward to the coop, after a lot of research we went with the Omlet Eglu.
Some of our favorite perks so far:
-The cleaning is a breeze.
- It stays cool during the day, and warm at night
- The chickens can not perch on the included food/water dishes in a way that their bathroom debris ends in the dishes.
- Love the ease of access to every component of the coop.
- It is so user friendly, that my son can operate everything by himself. He likes to bring them to a new patch of grass and interact with “his girls”. This morning he was even IN the coop.
- Free fertilizer as they are moved around the lawn!
We are adding a 3 foot extension and handles because chicken math is real, and I’ve ordered a few other accessories to keep our hens happy.

Excellent chicken coop
I bought the Eglu chicken coop in green, after a few days my chickens loved it, still a bit unsure of the ladder, they will work it out. It was so easy to put together took about an hour, and so easy to use.
Thanks for such a good product.

A must have even for large homesteaders
I have seen these on videos and always thought I had no need as a large homesteader. I have lots of chickens so why would I need such a small run. But last year a predator was able to take out 11 of my young chickens a mother was raising in the coop. Now, I have two of these coops and I will be buying more. They are perfect for a broody mom and her babies. They are also perfect for young chicks once they are old enough to leave the brooder. When they are young I can fit a bunch of them in one Omlet. By the time they start to outgrow the Omlet they are ready to go into one of the main chicken areas. It's so easy to move around the yard and they are safe from predators. I will be getting another one to raise my young turkeys as well.

8 months with Cube and 13ft run. Everybody happy
Bought this in May for 5 young hens to move into from being raised. Think a bit about where you are when you start assembling this. Its not easy to move around corners or obstacles as it is so long. We have Racoons, Foxes, Hawks, Possums, Snakes and Neighborhood dogs (and our own) so lots of potential dangers. So far I have only lost a couple of the side plastic snaps. However, based on what looked like a probe I did reinforce the sections to the tubular structure with many zip ties. This has minimized gaps. We ordered the pegs to secure the skirt and they work but they are a bear to screw in when the ground is cold or dry, so I supplement them with tent pegs that are much easier to push in with my feet and remove with a hammer. Optimally with 5 hens I need to move about every 3 or 4 days but I usually wait a week and it will be dirt, so I just dump the cleanings on the ground and cover the patch with new soil. The grass seems to grow back stronger and this spring I will seed when I move the run. The coop is VERY easy to clean. After a while I think they only poop in the coop. 5 hens seems perfect for this large run. Im not sure they would be so happy if there were 10 in it but I think its doable and humane. I did find the green cloth cover to be usable, but not enough for rainy, stormy or cold/windy conditions. I bought two huge tarps for the winter and use one to create shade in the summer. It was kind of expensive to buy heavy duty large tarps but man, they work. I have a photo of the nice weather configuration, the hot 100 degree sun configuration with the tarp oriented toward the sun, and the cold weather two tarp protection tunnel configuration. I did spring for the blanket for the coop and covered the coop with tarp to keep dry. It got down to 2 degrees with 15 knot winds and snow but the hens seemed pretty well protected, and dry as they kind of stayed in the wind buffer tunnel. The supplied water bowl freezes quickly and freezes solid so had to change it and break out a solid block of ice at least 2-3x daily. We have several neighbors who have chickens and I think they envy how easy we and our chickens have it. The main compliment I hear is that it is easy to keep clean.

Great coop, but expensive
This coop is incredibly easy to clean, and our birds seem to love it. They moved from a slightly larger wooden coop into this coop, and we’ve noticed no reduction in egg production over the last month since the move, so the girls must be happy. I’m ecstatic about how easy it is to clean. We bought an autodoor and it’s awesome for putting the girls to bed at night/not having to get up in the cold and rain to let them out into the run. (Definitely recommend the autodoor).
Recently we had a cold snap with -9° F temperatures, accompanied by -30° F windchill temps, and the girls made it out without frostbite or major interventions on our part. We covered the side ventilation points with a tarp, installed a free standing coop heater in the coop, and changed out hot water bottles in the nesting box (for comfort) and we only had 2-3 eggs (out of 12-16 eggs total) freeze. even with the frigid temps outside, the coop temps for the most part remained above freezing. I know our previous coop would not have fared as well.
Overall I’m happy with the purchase. I do think the price is a bit extravagant for a small chicken coop, but it’s so easy to move and clean that I’m happy with the purchase overall.
I will say also, if you are older or have a bad back or poor mobility, find someone younger to help you assemble it. I’m only in my 30s and it was a job getting everything put together.

The Fort Knox of Chicken Coops
Ordered my omelet coop and run this past July. Shipping took a while so plan ahead for when your chicks will be ready to move from the brooder to the coop. I allowed plenty of time so the shipping timeframe wasn’t a big issue for me. I grew up on a farm in rural Ohio. We kept chickens my whole childhood and I finally moved to some land as an adult and could go back to raising my own chickens. Honestly there is just no comparison to fresh eggs. Be warned once you have had them going back to store bought is hard! Anyway I moved my 6 Easter Eggers in right at 8 weeks old. It was late summer so didn’t have to be too concerned with cold nights. I couldn’t believe how quickly my chickens took to their new home. Happily running around the secure run and hopping up the ladder for bedtime the very first night! I chose to spend the money on this coop for several reasons. First I have every manner of critter that would love a chicken dinner, great horned owl, hawks, raccoons, coyotes, foxes and the potential for neighborhood dogs to get on my property. Because of this free ranging my birds would not be an option. The omelet is secure and I mean completely secure. A few days ago I look out my window to find the neighbors dog barking at my chickens and clawing at the coop. The dog was working so hard to get at my birds he cut himself. The only thing he accomplished was tearing off my windbreak panel and hurting himself. My birds were perfectly safe! Amazing! The other reasons I chose this coop is the ability to move it around so my birds can have fresh grass. I have the longest run you can get and can easily move the omelet around by myself over bumpy terrain with no issues. Takes longer to move my feeds and stuff out than it does to actually move the coop! Another reason I chose the omelet is easy cleanup. Every part wipes down with coop cleaner, water and a paper towel. Even stubborn children droppings come off. I like to keep a clean coop and it takes me less than 10 minutes to clean out my omelet top to bottom. Finally I chose the omelet to ensure my birds a comfortable. Happy chickens lay the best eggs! The omelet is cool in the summer and keeps the chickens warm in the winter. My birds turned exactly 5 months old this past week, on December 21, the shortest day of the year. We had near blizzard conditions here, blowing snow and -9 without the windchill, which was about -30 degrees. Much to my happy surprise I had my first egg on Christmas Eve! If you’re a chicken keeper you know these are not optimal conditions for your chickens to start laying! My birds are young to start laying for Easter Eggers, we definitely did not have 12 hours of daylight and it was bitter cold! I can only guess that the omelet has kept my chickens healthy, safe and warm to the point they were ready to start laying even in these conditions! Love love love this product and all the accessories! I ordered the auto door about 2 weeks after my chickens moved into the coop. It’s a life changer! Never failed! Well worth the money! Highly recommend!

Great once up!
I would have given 5* if it hadn’t been so difficult to put together. Please allow several hours. Once up, however, it’s excellent, very sturdy and well made.

So happy that it worked for the bantam Silkies. They made it up the ladder no problem at around 13 weeks of age! :)
We have an Eglu already for our Marans and it's just right for them. It is so easy to clean, great for laying (once they had training eggs in it), and with a useful space underneath. I'd read that Silkies didn't make it up the ladder, so am pleased to see that that is not true. At least, now with ours. Thankfully, given the low temperatures right now, we have the extreme weather cover, as little ones are more vulnerable. It's kept them toastie.

Really warm and cosy
Having bought several wooden chicken houses which in time leaked, I’m hoping the Eglu will last longer. It certainly looks robust and waterproof. Very pleased with my purchase.
Chickens adapted very well in a couple of days as the steps were much steeper than they were used to.
Very happy chucks.
