Eglu for my guinea pig Ram
As a secondary outdoor run this works well, Rams primary home is inside. Ram is a year old and the Eglu works well as he has a big guinea bum that won't fit through the gaps on uneven ground. I also put bricks on the two corners to be safe. A baby piggy would be able to squeeze out, so this prob wouldn't be suitable unless on perfect flat grass and maybe with some tent pegs.
If a guinea was to live outside permanently, I would be concerned about the piggy getting cold during the winter, mainly as you don't want to shut the door leaving the little loves in the dark all day!
The YouTube construction video was really great.

So complicated but great
Found it hard to build & took ages but it’s grate when it’s up. Issue I have is the run, my cats can fit there paw though it. Wanted to get another for my girls but not sure if now.

good cage
It has been really helpful over the summer to keep our guinea pigs outside. But now we realized that there are mice in the cage. It should have smaller gaps in the wiring to keep mice out.

Great hutch, Nightmare build
I love this hutch and everything they promise is true. What isn’t explained is that it’ll take over 2 hours to build with the 2m run. The instructions are poor. I’m a whizz at Lego and IKEA, yet these instructions are not to the same quality. Some parts of the build required 2 people. I’m so disappointed that I paid such a high amount of money (£400) and was left building it myself, with poor instructions. On this basis I would not buy again. I feel this needs to be made much clearer before purchase

Quite good, but needs to be adpated to Australian climate conditions
Overall a pretty good product, solidly designed and built, and easy to keep clean. For Australian summer conditions, however, it needs better ventilation and measures to protect animals from high heat and humidity. In Sydney this summer the temperature has often been in the high 30s and into the 40s, together with humidity around 70 - 90 per cent, making it difficult for guinea pigs and people alike to stay cool. Summers in Sydney have always been quite hot and humid, but they seem to be getting even more so. So for a guinea pig the problem is not staying warm and surviving the cold, but avoiding hyperthermia (heat stroke) and dehydration. The ventilation slots on the inside surface of the walls are not adequate. Maybe some design changes are needed to give better ventilation that avoids the hutch heating up inside like an oven if exposed to direct sunlight for a lengthy period. We've positioned ours so it is mostly shaded, but that's still not ideal in keeping the inside temp cool enough. Maybe it needs a fabric shade screen that can be fitted to the outside of the hutch with a large gap (maybe 150mm)? Something like a tent fly sheet? Good luck.

Looks good
The eglu looks great in my garden but there are a few issues with it. The underneath structure of the tray makes excellent housing for slugs which then make their way into the pod and munch their way through the guinea pig food leaving their slimy trail behind. The rear door is difficult to open if there is any hay in the door frame. The hay rack is now attached with tape so that the water bottle remains accessible. With regard to retrieving objects from the run I have found that a litter picker is very useful and stops the need to find someone small enough to crawl into the run.
Some form of light access to the pod would be useful - for pets and owners alike.

It's definitely less work but it ruins the lawn and there are no windows!
I like the design and the ability to open and close the door but the guinea pigs are ruining the lawn - we have a chequerboard effect where I have been moving it about. It is also difficult to move about and was much more arduous than I expected to put together. I probably had high expectations given the high price and other reviews. It's good, but not great.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear you have had problems with assembling your hutch. Should you have any further issues, please do let our Customer Service Team know and we will help as much as we can.
Guinea Pigs will always nibble on the grass when you let them out on the lawn, this is healthy and normal behaviour as they need to constantly eat to keep their bowels moving. You could try offering them more hay and more fresh food if you want to try and keep the lawn eating to a minimum. However they simply love fresh grass and they are surely grateful that you give them the opportunity to do so every day.
Too small for 3 guniea pigs and very tricky to access
I bought an igloo guniea pig hutch for our 3 guniea pigs thinking that it would solve all our problems. I can fault the build of the hutch however I find the access to the pigs really tricky. with the 2m run its impossible to catch them because they just run up the other end and there is no top access so you have to clamber inside. The access from the back, which very convenient for feeding, I find tricky to get at them for worry of them escaping from the opening whilst it is down. I also think it is too small for 3 gunea pigs. Although we clean it out regularly it is alway a horrible, small mess. I'm sorry but I do wish I had taken up the 30 day return offer.

We are sorry to hear that you are not happy with the hutch. The Go should comfortably house up to 3 Guinea Pigs, and by leaving the hutch door open into the run area, you will give them enough space to move around at al times. Otherwise, should you wish to offer them even more space, we have 1m run extensions and also our line of Outdoor Pet Runs.
Reaching the feeder and drinker sometimes can be tricky, however our designers have created the Run Door Self Fit Kit (810.0042) exactly for this purpose.
We hope these tips might make it easier for you to use the Eglu Go Hutch, and thanks again for your feedback!
Great in dry weather
This is a great hutch for my three guinea pigs but I've had to buy a conventional hutch for the winter as the rain was driving into the hutch and the run was waterlogged. It would be useful to be able to raise the hutch off the ground perhapswith a ramp for the piggies to get some exercise. When the weather cheers up they'll be resuming residence.
